Promoter-Organizer: Ralph “Kelley” Spencer was
born September 5, 1893, in Reeds, MO and spent his lifetime and pitching career
in Picher, Oklahoma. His first
World Tournament appearance was in 1921 in St. Paul, Minnesota. He placed 6th with a 10-5
record. In the 1922 winter World
Tournament Ralph had a record of 20-1 and was runner-up to C.C. Davis. Two days following that event Davis and Spencer
played an exhibition game to 200 points which was won by Spencer 200-182. Ralph had a career of 9 World Tournament
Championship Class appearances with 203 wins and a 53.09% ringer average, using
the old hookless shoes.
