Player-Organizer: Glen Portt was born February 23, 1914, in Michigan and first pitched horseshoes in 1924 at the age of 10.  He did some touring with the legendary Jimmy Risk and was elected President of the NHPA in 1983.  He brought several new ideas to the membership, including the adopting of our current NHPA logo.  Glen won the Georgia State Championship several time and as late as 1991, came in as runner-up, losing in a playoff.  As of 1988 he was the all-time leader for World Tournament wins in the Senior Men’s Division.  Glen was Senior Men’s Champion in 1980 and 1984 and was runner-up in 1981, 1982, and 1983.  Glen Port passed away April 19, 1995.
