Inducted 1966
Organizer: Raymond Howard of London, Ohio. Published the official NHPA magazine,
“Horseshoe World” for more than twenty years from 1922 until
the start of World War II. Seven of
those years he was Secretary-Treasurer of the NHPA, but his greatest
contribution was to bring cohesion and unity to the game by the publishing of its
first monthly publication. Without
it, the NHPA would never have achieved the stature of a national organization. Howard held a high position in the
Secretary of State’s office in Ohio and helped renew the NHPA’s
nonprofit charter in the early 1960’s. Howard passed away November 28, 1970,
at age 70.
