Player-Organizer: Born in 1910, Art was raised on a farm and pitched horseshoes with the shoe right off the horse.  He did not play in organized horseshoe until he was 47 years old.  Art became a competitive pitcher in a very competitive state.  He never did win a State title but did come in as runner-up in 1971.  Art qualified for the Men’s Intermediate Championship Class at six straight World Tournaments, winning the World Championship in 1970 and repeated the feat in 1971.  During those two winning years, Art had a combined record of 14-0.  

 

Holter served the NHPA on the NHPA Grievance Committee and on the Hall of Fame Committee.
