Player: Bert earned the nickname “Kansas Cyclone” when in the finals of the 1925 Winter World Tournament, held in Lake Worth, Florida, he combined with Putt Mossman to break all existing records for a 50-point game.  The game went 108 shoes with a combined average of over 70%, eight consecutive four-deads and a combined 56 double ringers. This was with an 8-inch stake and pitching hookless horseshoes.  Bert placed 3rd at the 1926 Winter World Tournament, 3rd again in 1927 Summer event and was runner-up in 1928 and 1929.  Bert was Kansas State Champion in 1924 and 1934, and he won Ohio State titles in 1930, 1931 and 1932.
