Promoter/Organizer: D.D. Cotrell of North Cohocton, New York, designer of the first horseshoe scoresheets and an orderly system of recording tournament results, served as NHPA Secretary from 1925 through 1933. A brilliant organizer and promoter, he published the first comprehensive book on horseshoe pitching and the history of the game in 1927, entitled "Horseshoe Pitching - How To Play The Game". He was a world traveler and spent his winters in Florida promoting the World Tournaments of those days. In private life, he was the owner and founder of a magazine distribution agency. He died in 1937, at which time he was still active in horseshoe in New York state.
