Organizer: D.D. Cotrell of North Cohocton, New York, designer of the first
horseshoe scoresheets and an orderly system of recording tournament results,
served as NHPA Secretary from 1925 through 1933. A brilliant organizer and promoter, he
published the first comprehensive book on horseshoe pitching and the history of
the game in 1927, entitled “Horseshoe Pitching – How To Play The
Game”. He was a world
traveler and spent his winters in Florida promoting the World Tournaments of
those days. He died in 1937, at
which time he was still active in horseshoe in New York state.
