CHAPTER 4
PUBLICIZING YOUR MEMBERSHIP

What makes pitching horseshoes so much fun for me is more than just pitching horseshoes. It's all the characters I meet in the process. Many of these wonderful people have a fair amount of history behind them, horseshoes and otherwise, which makes them all the more interesting. Some are quite young, but have accomplished nearly as much on the court as their older counterparts.

These people are all wonderful candidates for feature stories about their lives and their horseshoe contributions.

For instance, how many club members will be attending the State Tournament this year? Publish their names and pitching class. In how many state tournaments have they pitched before? Have they ever won a state tournament? How many times? What is their ringer percentage? How have they contributed to your club? Have they held office? Pitched in tournaments all across the state or nation?

Who from your cub will attend the World Tournament this year? How many father/son, husband/wife, families will be represented in either State or World?

All of this information makes for an interesting article about your club members. Let the public know about these dedicated individuals and how they represent your town, area and state.

Articles about horseshoes are certainly not flooding the market, and your information may provide an enterprising reporter with the start of a great feature story - - and some free advertising about horseshoes and your club.

Always send copies of stories to YOUR NEWSLETTER.
