Beyond the WT:
Sanctioned League Tournament set for September 30

Borrowing from last year’s June message seems wrong on some level, but June is the month to say what needs to be said so here it is again only updated with some exciting news thrown in.
The 2017 World Tournament (WT) in St. George is rapidly approaching and I am excited and looking forward to another great tournament. The 2013’s tournament was a terrific event and the upgrade in clay should ensure an even better event. As the Sanctioned League Director, I am always looking ahead and planning so the WT is not the only event on my mind. The National NHPA Sanctioned League Tournament is scheduled for September 30th and October 1st, 2017 and is the 3-person team Championship for sanctioned league pitchers.
The tournament is a “count-all”, handicapped team tournament where a bonus point is awarded if a team can win at least two of the three games they play against another team as all three games are played in the same round. The teams are made up of any three pitchers from the same charter or league. The tournament is held in Wentzville, Missouri at the NHPA’s Hall of Fame (HOF) Facility which is home of the Quail Ridge Horseshoe Club as well as the NHPA’s beautiful collection of HOF memorabilia and displays. The event is sponsored by the NHPA.
The entry fee is $150.00 per team and the top prizes are $1500.00 for the winning team and $750.00 for the runner-up team. These two teams are the winners of the two, 10 team brackets and meet in a one game, “winner take all” championship game. Cash prizes are also awarded for the 2nd through 4th place finishers in each 10-team bracket, plus the top “high game over average game” in each bracket.

Only the first 20 teams to enter will get to pitch and I will accept entry forms now. Team needs to have a Captain and get their entry form and money (made out to the NHPA) to me ASAP. Don’t miss this great event.
