Player/Organizer: Mr. Tanner was a farmer from Illinois elected NHPA vice president in 1933. He promoted the 1933 World tournament to be held in conjunction with the exposition "A Century of Progress." This was after a gap of no World Tournaments since 1929. The 1935 World Tournament was held in Moline, Illinois. During the Depression years, he was known to make up some of the NHPA financial shortfalls out of his personal account.
