OTTIE RENO, Pike County, Ohio
Promoter/Organizer: Ottie W. Reno of Lucasville, Ohio, is the author of three full length books on the sport of horseshoe pitching. These books have world wide circulation and provide resource material for local clubs, individual pitchers and the media. Donating his experience as a lawyer and judge, Ottie served nineteen years as legal advisor for the NHPA for which he received a special NHPA award in 1977. He has been honored as an organizer in three two different charters, Alabama, Kentucky and Ohio. He held an office in the NHPA continuously for over twenty years and received the Stokes Memorial Award in 1964.
He has pitched exhibitions at fairs, schools, Penitentiaries and amusement parks and was one of five Americans who introduced the sport of horseshoe pitching in the Republic of South Africa in 1972. Ottie was Alabama State Champion from 1963 -1977 and won the Alabama State title 15 times. Ottie designed and managed the manufacturing of the Reno pitching shoe.
