Inducted 2020

Historia Era Player: John was an avid horseshoe pitcher for many years but was only able to qualify into the World Tournament Men’s Championship classes eight times during a period from 1946 thru 1960.  That was in the days of onsite qualifying and a person raising a family could not always make that trip just for the opportunity to try and qualify into a 36-person class Championship Class.  In his 8 appearances in the Championship Class, he did place in the top ten 5 of those years.  His two highest finishes were a 4th place in 1953 and 5th in 1951.  His combined ringer percentage for those 8 appearances was 73.63%.  John was elected the NHPA 2nd Vice President in 1951.  Being from Illinois, John was able to appear on the Chicago TV series Pitching Championship Horseshoes five times.  He won the gold horseshoe 4 times.
