Promoter-Organizer: Curt Bestul was born August 14, 1924.  Curt became involved in organizing a club in Eau Claire in 1965.  He joined the NHPA that year and attended the World Tournament in Keene, NH.  That prompted him to contact NHPA Secretary Bob Pence for information on forming a charter in Wisconsin.  The Wisconsin Association was born in 1967.  Curt continued to be involved with the club and with the association and served as Regional Director.  Curt along with his wife Beaty, hosted the 1987 World Tournament in Eau Claire.  They were the first to use the triplicate score sheets that have been used at World tournaments ever since.  Curt was a very capable pitcher, qualifying for the Championship Class at the 1970 World Tournament and averaged 68%.  He placed second in the Wisconsin State Tournament many times until he became State Champion in 1981.  There was another contribution as his daughter Debbie won the Junior Girls’ World Championship, four times in: 1984, 1985, 1986 and 1987.
