Member of the Akron fire department, won world's championship Feb. 23-28, 1920, at a tournament held in St. Petersburg, Fla., from a field of 24 other contestants without losing a game. Did not defend his title at next world's championship meet. Won world's championship second time Sept. 1923, 1923 in tournament held in Cleveland, Ohio, from a field of 49 other contestants in which he averaged 60 per cent ringers in the finals. He did not again defend his title.
