32      HORSESHOE PITCHING ---- HOW TO PLAY THE GAME

OUTLINE OF DUTIES OF OFFICERS AND COMMITTEES OF HORSESHOE CLUBS
I. -DUTIES OF OFFICERS
1. President.
     Call and preside at all meetings. Appoint all committees not otherwise provided for. Keep in touch with other officers and committee chairmen to see that work is being done.
2. "Vice President
     Act in any and all places where it is impossible for President to act.
3. Secretary-Treasurer.
     Keep record of all proceeding's of the Association and the Executive Committee.
     Have charge of and conduct all necessary correspondence.
     Submit a correct written statement of his accounts to the Club at each meeting
     and to the Executive Committee at such times as demanded.
II, -COMMITTEES AND DUTIES
1. No committee should have more than three members.
2. Appoint the best man available for chairman and let him select his own members.
3. Discharge all committees that fail to function on time and appoint new ones.
4. Put in writing an outline of committee's work and date to be completed.
5. Let each chairman do his work in his own way and hold him only for results at a certain time.
6. Be ready with suggestions and help if necessary.
1. Executive Committees.

     Prepare plans for the Club for their action. Handle all business of the Club
     between meetings.
2. Membership Committee.
     Conduct a campaign for members. Collect dues and issue membership cards.
     Make accounting to the Treasurer.
3. Committee on Courts.
     Keep courts in condition.
     See that tournament equipment is available when needed.
4. Tournament Committee.
     Arrange for exhibition matches.
     Conduct tournaments of all descriptions.
     Organize Leagues.
     Arrange matches between members and between clubs.
     Secure following officials for tournaments:
     Tournament manager.
     Head scorer.
     Chief of Scorers
     Referee.
     Caretaker.

     Secure and keep necessary record sheets.
5. Publicity Committee.
     Post results of meets.
     Secure write-ups in newspapers.
     Report results to "Horseshoe World"-the Horseshoe players magazine-
     London, Ohio.
6. Prize Committee.
     Secure appropriate prizes-cash, merchandise, medals, cups, charms, etc., for
     the various contests.
