Midway Celebration photo album The Oklahoma Horseshoe Pitchers Association is hosting the Midway Celebration when the Beantown to Bakersfield Caravan to the 2005 World Tournament reaches Oklahoma, July 13. We will be providing a barbeque dinner and entertainment as well as promoting awareness of the NHPA. The event will be open to the public and we will be accepting donations for the meal – all profits will be donated to the Tsunami Relief Fund. We are planning for media coverage to increase awareness and improve our donation tally. In addition to the meal, we will be introducing the caravanners to some Oklahoma hospitality and tradition. Activities we are planning include– Horseshoe pitching exhibition/tournament featuring our juniors. Entertainment and education on the Native American heritage in Oklahoma by the “Oklahoma Fancy Dancers,” a Native American dance troupe based in Oklahoma. Music provided by an aspiring band or individual. Barbeque dinner. Miscellaneous games and activities. The Hampton Inn of Yukon has agreed to be our "host hotel" for the event. They are blocking off rooms for us and offering a discounted rate of $64. (Regular room rate is $84) I am told this is a very popular hotel, so if you are planning to stay there, reservations should be made as soon as possible.
